About
Active since 2018, Intentional Football uses 1-to-1 coaching to assist players of all ages and abilities. I encourage my players to make quality, instinctual decisions that provide the highest probability of success.
Intentional footballers are intent on quality. Quality decisions are founded upon the intention of knowing which emotions and thoughts to follow in various situations.
Sessions are specifically planned with the short and long-term needs of the player in mind.
Head Coach Alfie Hipwell is available for sessions throughout South West London, Surrey and internationally by request.
Head Coach - Alfie Hipwell
Alfie holds 18 years of competitive playing experience and nine years of coaching experience (FA Level 1, Introduction to Futsal, Safeguarding and Enhanced DBS certified). In his youth, Alfie represented Old Actionians, Brentford FC, Old Isleworthians, CB Hounslow, Bedfont Sports, and Brentford FC (Futsal), as well as training with Brentford FC and Chelsea FC’s development programmes.
As an adult, Alfie spent three years competing in the US at different collegiate programs. He was a captain at Cayuga Community College, where he was selected as the Coach’s Player of the Year, and made both the MSAC Conference Team of the Year and the Region’s All-Tournament Team. He most recently competed at NCAA D2 institution UT-Tyler.
Whilst still a student-athlete in the US, Alfie would use his time off to build Intentional Football. Alfie recognized the importance that individual training, both alone and with private coaches, had played in his football development and as a person. Solitude and time spent with a revered individual created a bigger picture approach to his game and social interaction that he still uses to find solutions today.
In 2022, after moving back to the UK, Alfie made Intentional Football public. His aim is to be the coach he always desired to have had as a curious, young mind: teaching the importance of high-quality decision-making through football.
